Most people do not realize that the Ten Commandments were not first given on tablets of stone as shown in the movie, 'The Ten Commandments.' Rather, as recorded in the book of Exodus, the Ten Commandments were actually spoken down from the top of Mount Sinai to the nation of Israel by the Father Himself. He began with:
I am YEHOVAH thy Elohim, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other elohim before me.
- Exodus 20:2-3
In breaking down this instruction we find that:
1. Elohim identified Himself
Elohim first made sure that the Israelites knew His name.
2. Elohim associated what He had done for them to His name
Elohim made sure that they knew it was He who redeemed them from slavery.
3. Elohim taught the people
Elohim stated the actual instruction: that other elohim (mighty ones) should not be placed before Him.
To illustrate the importance of the Name of the Father consider if the verse was written as follows:
I am your Elohim, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other mighty ones before me.
Thou shalt have no other mighty ones before me.
If Elohim had hidden His name and not proclaimed it as the example verses above state, then how would the people know whom they should follow? Imagine that you are standing in front of a flag-pole with your eyes closed. There is a flag flying in the wind. The person next to you asks, "Will you pledge allegiance to this flag?" What will you answer? You will most likely answer that you can't pledge allegiance to the flag until you open your eyes and identify which country the flag stands for. You can't give your oath to defend that country and to live under its rules until you know which country it is. To do so would be foolishness. Similarly, how can you give allegiance to an elohim (g_d) whose name you do not know? If you are not following the Elohim of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, the Elohim of Israel, the Father of Yehoshua (Jesus) then you are following the father of all lies, Satan.
The Father did not hide His name. It was the FIRST thing He ever spoke audibly to the nation of Israel. In contrast Bible translators have hindered the Word and Will of YEHOVAH rather than advancing it by hiding and obscuring the Name of the Father when they translated His Name into the title "the LORD." Unlike Elohim, they have confused us all. This is evident in that many people in the world today believe that while different faiths have different names for the Creator that they all worship the same Being.
This is NOT true.
All World religions do not worship the same elohim.
Before continuing we will point out that we are instructed by YEHOVAH to not let the names of other elohim come out of our mouths and to not be mentioned. This is clear in the following verse:
And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other elohim, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
- Exodus 23:13
We will honor YEHOVAH by not proclaiming the names of other elohim, of which there are many, still in this world today. But be it known that we proclaim that the name of the true Elohim is:
By changing the name of the Father into "the LORD" the Bible translators have done an exceedingly great disservice. Regardless of their intent, it just doesn't make sense replace the Father's name with a mere title. If we would do this in our day-to-day life then:
- Instead of the famous nightly introduction of "Here's Johnny" we'd have heard: "Here's the host."
- At the Academy Awards ceremony when the Best Actor award is announced we would hear: "And the winner of the Best Actor award is: The Actor!"
- When news coverage of the presidential election is ready to announce the winner of the election we would hear: "The next President of the United States is: The President."
Yet as absurd as this sounds, this is just what has happened within the vast majority of Biblical translations. Unfortunately, most Bible readers don't even recognize that the precious name of their Creator has been substituted with a mere title.
Fill in the Blank:
In the book of Joel, the Father makes the following promise. After you read the verse choose from the list of answers:
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of ___________ shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as _________ hath said, and in the remnant whom ___________ shall call.
- Joel 2:32
What is the correct word for the blanks in the verse above:
a). the Host
b). the Actor
c). the President
d). the LORD
e). none of the above
If you answered "e," you are correct. The name of the Creator is:
Consider that even Moses wanted to know the name of the voice that spoke to him from the burning bush. Moses knew that if he followed the instruction of the voice - to go to the people of Israel in bondage in Egpyt with the message given him - that the people would not believe him. Therefore he asked the voice to tell them who it was that was speaking. In one of the most famous verses in the Bible, the Father states:
And Elohim said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
- Exodus 3:14
Most people think that the statement of the voice ends there. Even most preachers and evangelists stop there as well. But in the very next verse (bold emphasis added) the voice of our Elohim states His name clearly (remember that verse numbers were added to the text, therefore the next statement you are about to read is part of the original response of the Father to Moses):
And Elohim said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, YEHOVAH Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
- Exodus 3:15
Based on what is written it is most likely that Moses told the people of Israel, "I AM THAT I AM sent me. His name forever is YEHOVAH. His name YEHOVAH is His memorial to all generations." And what is a memorial? Webster's defines memorial as:
"serving to preserve remembrance."
How shall we remember the name of Elohim if we are not told it, and how will we be told it if those who know it do not teach it, and how will our children know it unless we teach it to them? How will our family, our neighbors, our country and the world honor and give respect to the true Elohim, the Elohim of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, and the Father of Messiah Yehoshua (Jesus) unless we break the traditions of men that make the name of YEHOVAH of none-effect and
